Today we got a really tough question from Charlotte:

I know that tofu is green, but I heard that people cut down rainforests to make room for the soybean plants. Which is better? Can you guys pleeeeease post this so I can find out?

This is a very good question. So good, in fact, that I really didn't know! I decided to ask Mrs. Greener.

I'm afraid I don't have a definite answer for you, either. Sometimes it's very hard to know for sure which is greener. You're right, Charlotte, that when farmers grow soybean plants, they're using land that could have grown other things. Then again, if you don't eat tofu and you're eating meat instead, that is not so green because raising animals uses a LOT of resources (land, feed, energy). So you see it depends on a lot of different factors! If you can, it's nice to buy organic and local food so you know a bit about where it came from and how it was grown. And keep asking questions!
